August 2020 – June 2021
I was a thesis co-author and full-stack developer for this research project, developed by Soft Interaction in collaboration with Texas A&M’s Department of Nursing. There were two applications built in Unity: an administrative application that is controlled by an instructor using a PC, and a virtual reality application built for the Oculus Quest used by the nurses needing to train their Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) skills. For more information, refer to the paper linked below.
My contributions include configuring automatic lip-synchronization to respond to a computer generated voice on the VR user’s side, connecting the two users together via Photon network solutions, and wiring RT-Voice (text-to-speech) with Amazon Polly. Another big part was collaborating closely with the UI designer to implement her vision into Unity for the PC-Admin (shown in the above two images).
